Hand Painted Pinstriping On A 2019 Ford F-250 Pickup Truck
Here is a full pinstriping job on a Ford F-250 pickup that some might feel is a little too much striping, but I believe it is still a very classy looking truck. Some people like even more pinstriping, and some people prefer less. I like to work with the customer to create a complete looking well balanced pinstriping job on a vehicle that fits their taste. To see more pictures of this truck please click on the "Pinstriping" tab above. You can also see more of my work by searching the web. Just type in "pinstriping Dennis Day" or "Pinstriping D.Day Designs."

Flames On A 1979 Chevy Pickup
I painted the flames on this 1979 Chevy pickup when it was brand new shortly after the owner chopped the roof.
As you can see in the photo above the roof is flamed as well. And the two hundred or so louvers on the hood were fun to paint over!

Windows That Aren't Really There In a Private Residence, Central Ma
My customer commissioned me to paint Trompe-l'œil copies of the windows on the wall on the right, onto the wall facing you in the photo below. My mission was to realistically create the optical illusion that the windows exist on what was actually a plain, blank gray wall. This wall is 17' feet high. One of the most challenging parts of the project was to paint the crown moldings at the top of the windows to look like they were actually there, but they aren't. There is only a painting of them going up the wall and out onto the ceiling. To see more pictures of this mural please click on the "Wall Murals" tab above.

Peterbilt Tractor
The first truck I painted for this customer was in the early 1990's. As you can see in the photos below, this truck is number 45. To say they are a great customer and great friends is an understatement. All of the lettering, graphics, and pinstriping on this truck are hand painted, as well as my rendition of R. Crumb's Doo Dah man. By clicking on the "Pinstriping" tab above you can see more pictures of this beautiful truck.

A 1955 Chevy Hot Rod With A Classic 1950's Style Flame Job
The owner of this really cool '55 Chevy Belair built this car himself in his garage at his home. He painted the car there as well. It's also where we painted the flames. He and I have known each other for a long time and I've had the pleasure of painting many cool things for him over the years. Hand Painted Scene Of The Azores As Seen Through Faux Windows
I was commissioned by a wonderful family who are originally from the Azores and now live in Central Massachusetts, to paint this scene of the Azores as seen through these two faux windows.  To create this painting I used a composite of photos of actual places in the Azores. You can see more pictures of these paintings by clicking on the "Wall Murals" tab above. Thanks.

A Painting On Canvas Of A Romantic And Sentimental Place For A Newlywed Couple.
On a cold winter's day, in a small town in upstate New York, the husband in a recently married couple had proposed to his bride on the walking bridge in the painting below. He had a professional photograph taken that I was able to use as a reference to create the painting. The photograph was taken at a time that showed the same conditions as when the proposal was made, on a cloudy evening near sunset, after a snowfall. The painting is done with acrylics on canvas and measures 18" by 24". It was given as a gift to his wife for their wedding anniversary. To see a couple more photos of the painting click on the "Other Things I Paint" tab above.

In 2015 had the honor and pleasure of handpainting the lettering and graphics on this very cool drag car to make it look like it did when it was raced in the 1960s. The first picture below shows the car in the '60s and the second one shows the car after I painted it. 1940 Ford Flames!
To fill my customer's request I painted these 1950's classic hot rod style flames on this 1940 Ford. The flames are masked off and sprayed on the car. I then hand painted the white outline around the flames. After that my brother Richie, who paints for Wilson and Steely Kustom Koachworks in Athol, MA, where the flame job was done, clearcoated over the flames. Many people consider the '40 Ford Coupe to be one of the quintessential American Hot Rods.
The finished car, out on the road.

A CLASSIC AMERICAN DINER
The Park Diner was built in 1933 and was operated in Worcester MA. It was completely restored inside and out by master craftsmen. The lettering had to be hand painted in order to keep the restoration authentic. More pictures of this beautiful piece of Americana can be seen on my hand lettering page.

Wall Mural Of An Italian Garden
This mural is painted on a wall in a home in central MA. The house is a split level ranch, and the wall in the entryway between the upper and lower floors was very plain. The home owners wanted me to create the look of a window overlooking an Italian garden using a photo they provided. The mural is approximately six feet tall. Everything in this photo is hand painted except for the shutters. Those are real, and were cleverly attached to the wall by the customer after I finished the painting.

A Hand Painted Mural Of The Old Stone Church In West Boylston, MA
I painted this mural on a hallway wall in a home in West Boylston, MA. For reference material, I used a few photographs that I took one peaceful early morning
The Old Stone Church was built in 1890 and less than ten years later it had to be abandoned when the surrounding land was flooded to create the Wachusett Reservoir. You can see a couple more pictures of this painting on my "Murals" page.

Eagle and American Flag
This eagle and flag are painted on the side of a tractor trailer truck hood. This painting is about 7 inches high and 10 inches wide. It's hand painted with a brush, in combination with a little airbrushing to add shading and dimension. I like to call these small pictorials that I paint for people, "smalls". If you click on my "Other Things I Paint" page you can see another "small" almost identical to this one that I painted for the same customer on a different truck.

A Jeep With Painted Flames
My customer built and painted this Jeep himself. I think he did a beautiful job. He had me paint the flames with the same silver he used to paint the fender flairs. I added a little blue shading to the flames with an airbrush and then hand painted the blue outline around them. You can see a couple more pictures of this Jeep by clicking on the "flames" tab above.
